War of the Worlds - Board Plot Synopsis « Thread Started on May 10, 2008, 12:21am »
We've just started a new board-wide plot and this thread will contain everything you need in order to understand what's happening, and join in the fun and festivities.
First off, I suggest you go read the last half of the Timeline of Board events in order to understand what's happened on the board in recent events.
To summarize; it's currently around November 2008 on the board. It's been four months since Crossroads, and only one month since the Kheran Invasion.
Now, here is the current board plot:
An Alien Species from Another Dimension (ASAD) has 'discovered' the Milky Way Galaxy and found it to be especially bountiful in natural resources, particularly food.
Like they have done many times before with many other galaxies, the ASAD plan on invading and conquering our Galaxy. However there is a deeper purpose to their invasion.
The ASAD cannot reproduce on their own (even though they have five genders). The only way they are born is through a Great Mother. The Great Mother is an enormous mostrosity that produces eggs. One Great Mother can produce billions to trillions of eggs in it's lifetime.
The major issue, however, is that a Great Mother only grows and matures through the absorption of life-matter (some refer to this as souls of the dead). When an ASAD kills another lifeform, the life-matter of that lifeform is absorbed and transferred to the growing Great Mother. Once it has absorbed enough pieces of life-matter, it will fully mature and be transported to the Milky Way where it will begin laying eggs, further builing the forces of the ASAD.
So, the ASAD now have their sights set on the Milky Way. Through some sort of ability or technology they have, the ASAD begin opening wormholes in space-time to planets all over the Galaxy. The ASAD begin to pour out of the wormhole and begin their trek of death, killing anything that they can find.
Here are the ASAD stats:

Height: 8 - 9ft Weight: 400 - 500lbs Skin Color: Ranges from black, brown, and gray Eyes: Varies based on vision they are utlizing
Physiology: The ASAD's anatomy is unique in that they possess three five-jointed, even-toed ungulate feet. They have cross shaped pupils, and communicate exclusively through telepathy. They have a tall, thin, skeletal body that possess very little soft-tissue, and appendages appear to be supported by sinuous strands of muscle.
Their outward appearance is marked mainly by bony crests located on their chest and disproportionately large heads. They have as many as five genders.
The ASAD can also survive the unprotected rigors of normal space, and do not not to need to breathe atmosphere.
The ASAD also emit a biogenic field around their bodies which interferes with normal transporters and renders them partially invisible to sensors. Their powerful biology renders them immune to most scanning technology.
The ASAD possess incredible strength and stamina. They are capable of lifting nearly 200 tons and withstanding street level weaponry (high caliber guns, RPGs). Additionally, they can recover from near-fatal injury, regenerating vital organs and even lost limbs.
The ASAD can see in multipe light spectrums; being able to switch from one to another (which causes their eyes to change color). They also possess a great sense of smell and hearing.
Adaptive Abilities:: The ASAD have a uninque adaptive ability that relates to their regenerating ability. If a creature is attacked with fire, and is damaged badly; it will eventually heal and regenerate all lost tissue. Furthermore, the regenerative abilities will make it so a similar fire attack will not work against the same creature. Another example; if one is pummeled by an extremely strong character (say Wonder Woman) and isn't killed, it will regenerate and come back with enhanced concussive durability... enough to sustain Wonder Woman's attacks.
Cellular Structure: The ASAD have a dense genetic structure, with each cell containing more than a hundred times the genetic material contained in the nucleus of an average human one, because of a triple-helix DNA structure. On the cellular level, the ASAD's own somatic cells can become extremely virulent when in a foreign blood-stream, duplicating themselves rapidly.
Attacks: The ASAD exclusively attacks with their claws and raw strength and never use a handheld weapon, allowing their superior immune system to be used in an offensive role. Furthermore, their biogenic field enhances their claw attacks, enabling them to cut extreme dense and durable substances.
When an ASAD attacks a victim with its claws, some of the creatures cells are left in the wound. These stray cells multiply, spreading out through the victim's entire body, consuming it from the inside out while the victim remains conscious. As the attacking cells employ the same advanced immune response as when inside the creature, they are able to resist conventional treatment methods. Characters with high resitances to disease, poison, and with advanced healing abilities, can resist this attack.
Death: If by chance you are lucky enough to kill an ASAD, the creature will dissolve, its virulent blood spreading out and eating away at anything it touches.
The ASAD start appearing all over the Galaxy on certain planets. We can pick whatever planets we would like, but for timeline purposes, they will at least attack the following planets in this order: Talok, Tamara, Earth.
The goal of the board members is to write entertaining stories. You can work together, discover clues to the ASAD's purposes, try and form a resistance or method to take them out faster, etc.
The ending will be revealed at a later time.
Finally, we will be writing Daily Planet news articles with updates to the War of the Worlds on occassion, so stay tuned.
You can start writing posts now. The following threads are all part of the War of the Worlds plot, and you can use them to get an idea of how they look and how they appear:

OK, please discuss any ideas you have with the happenings, or areas and things you would like your character(s) to do.
Here is what I know so far:
- Umbra will be going to Talok when she hears they are attacked. It would be a pretty boring thread if she is by herself, so we need others to find a way to go with her. I suggest some of our space-capable characters, as others would have no way to get there or to even know it has happened. Options include Captain Comet, Hal Jordan, Mr. Majestic... Umbra, do you have anyone you'd like to RP with?
- Tamaran will be attacked (Starfire and Blackfire's homeworld). Not sure what's happening or who is going, but I can assume Blackfire will be there. Again, we'll need others to be in this thread as well.
- Animal Man will be attacked while looking for Starfire in the Titans tower. He will be talking with Val Armorr when the ASAD start appearing. They can detect Animal Man very strongly because of his connection to the life-matter animals.

Zatanna is heading off to a show in LA. She has not heard of the attacks and is expecting for everything to go a normal. When she gets there, very little to no people can be found and she starts to suspect something is wrong. She heads backstage and looks to see if there is anyone there to explain what is going on. Her efforts, however, aren't successful and she ends up walking the streets again. Eventually she does find something but it is actually an ASAD. Then she gets into commotion.

In case no-one knows already...............
Ra's will be in his fortress, trying to discover a weakness, when his radio communicator will pick up Batman and Comet talking about what they have discovered, about the secret to destroying the ASAD. He will harness this weakness and kill all but one. He will take that ASAD to his labratory, where he will take it's DNA and clone it to a new level of strength. It starts with one mutated ASAD, and that ASAD will regenerate (split apart) into 2 ASAD's 10 minutes after it is born. And, well......I'm guessing you all know your multiplication and can guess what will happen after a while.......... That's basically what will happen with Ra's, except the ASAD will be loyal to his thoughts only. With even stronger ASAD, Ra's plans to take over the world will in the end lead to his ultimate showdown with Batman and a few others that he would give ANYTHING to kill. He will lose of course, but it should be one crazy battle for the world. (Note: this will only happen after the ASAD is thought to be totally wiped out.) This will happen to everyone when they least expect it. I think it would be a fun idea, let me know what you all think
Now Orion, is a totally different story. He will fight in Keystone until every invader is destroyed. When everything is all under control in Keystone, he will say his farewells to his comrades on Earth and leave for New Genesis. There is always a problem in a good story, however. His Astro Harness will malfunction and he will end up on Tamoran with Superwoman and Blackfire. (Comet mentioned that there would need to be more to take on the ASAD on other planets) He will adventure with them and from there is a mystery................

I'm just wondering if I should move out of Tamaran, I've been waiting for about a fortnight for Kommand'r to post and I guess she's just too busy RL? I don't want to mess up any of your plans though, Ra's!

Hey, Kayla! You wont mess up my plans!
About moving out of Tamoran, I dont know........(shrugs)........maybe you could stay there with Komand'r until Comet and Batsy have enough time on their hands to reveal the weakness. Orion will be visiting you both on accident after he rescues and gets betrayed by Mary Malice......So if that post gets too boring for you, I'll understand I'm headed for Tamoran with Orion, anyway, but Black Adam and I have to resurect a Clash veteran first, so It's totally YOUR choice. xD
But as Comet said earlier, we need more people taking care of the problem in the Galaxy, which includes MOST......if not all of the planets. I am giving Orion this resposibility, and I know Sage is using Komand'r for that reason, as well. Darling, it's your choice though
