*Clicck ClaaK CliCkk ClaaCK*

She ran, because that was the only option that she did have. After watching her fiancée try to fend off these demons, and fail she was positive that she had no chance against these horrific creatures. Whatever they were, they tore through Charles as if he were nothing and threw his body aside like a doll. It was terrifying, and almost unreal, yet here she was, running for quite literally her life from a savage group of creatures that were gaining on her.

“Oh please... if there's a god... save me now.”

Natalie thought to herself as she finally ran out of the alleyway, and back onto the city street. Never before had she run this fast in heels, she didn't think it was even possible. However she ignored the aches and pains to keep her body moving. She did not want to end up like Charles did. Torn apart, pieces of her body scattered around some unknown alleyway.

Continuing her sprint, she ran down the sidewalk, acknowledging the fact that there was absolutely no one around to save her. Turning to check on the aliens, she began to whimper to see that they were still right on her tail. Willing herself to run forward, she pumped her legs faster and began to run faster, hoping against all hope that someone or something would save her.

*CrRaCck!*

“AaaH!”

She heard her heel snap and in a second she was falling to the ground. Landing hard on the concrete, she felt her arms scrape against the ground and her ankle throb indicating that it was probably sprained from the fall. Frankly, she reached out for her heel and began to pull it off, but then froze when she watched the oncoming group of aliens slow down and begin to surround her. Searching for a means of escape, Natalie felt tears fall down her cheeks as shadows loomed over her and the snarls of the aliens blocked out her own whimpers and cries.

This was her end, maybe she would meet Charles in heaven. Was she even going to Heaven? Why was she asking this question to herself? How painful would her death be?

She knew that death was inevitable and right now she hoped that it would be as swift and painless as possible. Pulling herself into feeble position, she awaited her death.

*SHiIiiFooOom!*

A bright light radiated around her and she could feel the heat from it cascade upon her body. Peering through her hair, she gazed upon an alien whose whole body was engulfed by a bright gold light causing it to spasm and then slowly melt away.

Had a savior come for her?

As she began to raise her head, she suddenly felt her something grab her beneath her arms and then raise her from the ground. Feeling her legs dangle through the air, she almost completely lost herself as she wondered why she was flying through the air, and who exactly had saved her. On the brink of freaking out, she envisioned the man of steel to be holding onto her and bringing her to safety. Raising her head to smile at her hero, Natalie was for a moment confused when she looked up to see a blonde woman holding onto her.

“You're not Superman.”

Natalie commented, and she felt them descend. Turning she saw that they were near an evacuation site.

“Sorry to disappoint.”

The woman commented, the stress in her voice was evident. Hell she looked like she had been fighting all day long.

“But I'm the best you've got right now.”

The woman responded as she dropped Natalie on the ground. Without any further comments, the woman turned in the air, and flew off no doubt ready to face off with more of those horrible creatures.

Soaring through the air, Invincibelle flew over at least ten different streets and met with the same sight. Aliens, hundreds of them, flooding the almost desolate streets and destroying everything in sight. She had been at this game of war for hours now, and Invincibelle wasn't sure how much longer she could go. These came from nowhere and just started causing a ruckus, well they started an inhumane slaughter or just about anything in sight. They worked in numbers, and they just seemed to never stay down.

A high pitched scream filled her ears, and Invincibelle turned abruptly facing the direction that the scream came from. Prepared to once again face the wrath of these demonic extraterrestrial creatures Invincibelle flew towards whatever form of hell she was going to deal with.

She could only hope that the rest of the Society was getting better results than she was.

(I moved this thread to New York, as that’s where the JSA HQ’s is. I figure that the JLA would probably start in Metropolis, since they are HQ’d there.)

Nathan Heywood’s day had started like a typical Monday. He had waked up early in the morning, taken a shower and ate a healthy breakfast, and then gathered his things for his first class at Columbia University.

He walked, like always, and had enjoyed watching the city come alive. It was a brisk New York City morning, with most of the cars having frost on their windows. Nathan always liked winter, and now that he was virtually immune to the feelings and effects of cold, he liked them even more. He got many strange looks as he walked down the street, for he only wore a sweatshirt, while most everyone else was covered in large coats, scarves, and gloves.

His first class had been rather dry; it was History – Middle Ages. He had taken it because he wanted to learn about the heroes of that time, but it wasn’t as he had expected. The professor liked to discuss the politics of the time period instead of the other subjects.

It was during his break between his first and second class when his typical Monday turned into hell on earth, quite literally.

He had been walking outside, heading over to the Library, when the wormholes started opening throughout the city. Of course at that time, he had no idea they were opening around the entire city.

He first heard a girl screaming. She was standing at the entrance of the Library, pointing and screaming towards the parking lot. Nathan ran over towards her, and when he was able to see what she was looking at, he stopped suddenly in awe.

There was a large glowing green light, and coming out of the light were large creatures. They were grotesque, with long and lanky arms, and boney structures. He couldn’t believe the side of them, standing nearly 9 foot tall. He thought he was dreaming.

Nathan sat stunned as they came out, and in a matter of moments there were eight of them standing together in the parking lot. One of them looked at the others, and then in unison they began to move out in different directions.

“Run.”

Nathan had no idea what these things were, but they didn’t look like they were there for a peace offering. He didn’t want to take any chances. The girl looked at him, and then ran down the stairs and took off running.

Nathan took in a deep breath and then walked towards one of the creatures. As Nathan approached it, he opened his hands wide, a sign of non-aggression… or so he hoped.

“What do you want? Where do you come from? Can you understand me?”

Nathan stood only a few feet from the large creature, and it looked down at him with its yellow eyes. When Nathan had been transformed into organic steel, he had lost all sense of touch. One of the bi-products of that was that he couldn’t tell how much strength he was using, and it often results in smash things, such as doorknobs, plates, cups, etc. However because he ‘lost’ his sense of touch, his other senses had started to increase. He noticed that his smell and hearing seemed to be getting better, or maybe it was just his imagination.

Still, when the creature in front of him opened up his large maw and roared, the stench that came from its mouth was the strongest and most repugnant thing Nathan had ever smelled. Nathan had to hold back the urge to vomit, but the stench did cause him to stumble forward towards the creature.

*Swwwwooooosh*

In less than a second, the creature lifted up its clawed hand and took a swipe right at Nathan. Large, sharp claws swiped across Nathan’s neck and he fell back. Nathan felt something strange around his neck, something he hadn’t felt since he had been transformed: Pain.

Reaching up to his neck, Nathan felt liquid around his neck. Pulling his hand away and looking down at it, Nathan saw a weird metallic blue blood on his hand. He had never seen his ‘new’ blood before, and the sight of it was rather fascinating. His skin and body was super dense, and realizing that these creatures good hurt him caused a strange fear to come over him. He considered for a moment that he could die right then and there… he could bleed to death from his neck.

The creature roared again and took another swipe.

*Swwwwooooosh*

Nathan rolled to his right, then reversed direction and swept his leg out, tripping the creature where it stood. It fell down on its back, and Nathan leapt to his feet, jumped into the air, and came down with a fist to its face.

*Thud*

Nathan knew that he had put too much strength into the blow when his fist went through the creatures head. Pulling his hand out, Nathan cringed at the greenish acid liquid that surrounded his hand. He felt a slight burning sensation and as the blood dripped on the ground, little acidic bubbles appeared over the concrete. Nathan stood in awe as the creature slowly dissolved into a pool of green liquid, and watched as the blood burned a large hold into the concrete.

The only reason I am alive right now is from my healing factor… this acidic substance was on the creatures claws as well, and it would have ate right through me without my regeneration.

Realizing that there were at least seven other creatures wondering around campus, Nathan quickly gathered his wits and looked around. To his right he watched as a student was decapitated with one slash. All around him he heard screams and saw death. It was a waking nightmare.

Nathan clicked on his JSA communicator.

“JSA…this is Citizen Steel calling from the Columbia University campus… I need help. There are creatures…. They came from some sort of portal or doorway. They are killing everyone they see…”

Nathan was a rookie when it came to the JSA… heck, he was a rookie in terms of being a superhero. He was still learning the full capabilities of his power, having only had them for a month. He knew that right now he needed some veteran help.

Two hours later......

Citizen Steel picked up the creature; one hand gripped the creature’s neck, the other its leg. With a quick flex, the creature roared as it was ripped in half. Blood fell over Citizen Steel, the acid burning the top layer of his skin, but his regeneration making quick work of the healing process.

The method he was using was quite brutal and messy, but it seemed to work the best in keeping the creatures down. He had tried numerous other methods, and he had found out the creatures had their own advanced healing. To make matters worse, when the healed, they seemed to come back stronger and more resistant to the same punishment they took before.

Citizen Steel tossed the two pieces down, just when he heard another scream. Turning to his right, he saw down the street about 150 feet away stood another creature. It had a man held up in the air, just the way he himself had held one of their kind.

“No…”

*RRRrrrriiiip...*

Blood and gore spread everywhere as the man was ripped in half. The creature starred at Citizen Steel as if mocking him.

Citizen Steel walked over to a Ford Excursion parked along the road. He reached down and grabbed the side, his hands crushing the steel with his fingers, and the hurled it directly at the creature.

*Crunch…*

“F*#king B@$t@rds!”

Things were not going well. When he had contacted the JSA some two hours ago, he learned that these creatures were coming in all over the city. It was only a short time after, that they learned the creatures were appearing all over the world.

The JSA had been working separately for nearly two hours, and it didn’t seem like they were getting anywhere. He knew that many of the others would be getting tired by now, as they didn’t all possess near infinite stamina like himself.

“This is Citizen Steel; how is everyone doing? I have to say, it seems like we’re getting no where, and I am guessing there are thousands of deaths that have occurred, just in New York City.”

The enormity of the situation dawned on him that this was happening all over the world. He could only guess that the number of deaths was in the millions.

“Are we going to lose our planet?”

It was more of a question to himself, but it had went over the communicator. Nathan didn’t know if his hero career would last much longer…

Virgil Hawkins was no stranger to weird things happening at the most random times. These were one of those random times, lets go back about an hour shall we. Virgil was taking his time walking through the mall. He was more just there to spend time with some friends and get his mind off being a hero for a little bit. Though that often backfired it never hurt to try.

Virgil had went in and out of a few stores not really looking for anything special just killing time. He had been getting us to the JSA way of life. The team was definitely different, older, wiser, but all the attitudes were the same as the titans they just hid them better. Each of the JSA members had interesting quirks that made them cool to be around.

Through all they had been in lately, the team would seem to finally be meshing better. Though some of their missions were out of control and disorganized, they usually came out on top. That would be tested again very soon.

Just then a mass amount of aliens came bursting into the mall attacking all the civilians. This is where we are now, fighting aliens by himself. Now in his Static uniform Static was keeping as many people as safe as he could. Flying over numerous fights between the monsters and people, Static would break them up and tell them to get away.

“This is Citizen Steel; how is everyone doing? I have to say, it seems like we’re getting no where, and I am guessing there are thousands of deaths that have occurred, just in New York City.”

The voice of a fellow JSA member known as Citizen Steel came over their comlinks. Static noticed the voice of this hero was having just about as much fun as he was. They seemed to be fighting a losing battle as the hours have past.

"Well this is Static, I don't know about you guys, but it is getting crazy over here. I have beat a couple of them, but they keep coming back stronger then the last time..."

Static stated to just give what he had noticed for his battles so far. There seemed to be no end to this onslaught of death and misery. Static was saving as many as he could.

“Are we going to lose our planet?”

"Keep it together man! we are heroes for a reason, we'll figure this out we just have to survive this! And save as many as we can!"

Static was shouting as he jumped down into a crowd of the aliens using a sonic boom like way of electricity to knock them away from the civilians that had gathered together to save each other. their was about forty of them as Static unleashed an electric forcefield that should be enough to keep them off till he could get some help. He just had to hold onto whatever hope he could...

Washington had already been overrun as Anarky had learned when the aliens attacked. He had been there when they first started appearing, saving as many as he could while trying to take down as many aliens as he could. These creatures are completely inhuman and cared nothing about life as he had personally seen when these creatures ripped some of his fellow man to shreds without remoarse or sympathy. Fortunately Anarky had recently created a robotic double in hopes of doubleling his efforts to change society, allowing him to be in two places at once and while one was in Washington the other went to New York to deal with a mafia drug ring.

That was when he found himself in a fight for survival as he could only imagine the heroes of the world were all doing what they could to win this futile battle. Leaping across to another rooftop, Anarky saw one of these heroes in a need of help as he had put up a force field to protect some civilians as the aliens hammered relentlessly trying to break through.

"Show time..." Anarky thought pulling a few exploding Anarky throwing disks from his belt, flicking his wrist and sending them down into the crowd of aliens where they promtly exploded and sent chunks of the aliens flying- well, not all of them. Leaping down to the street, Anarky spun his staff around in one hand for a couple of seconds before he pressed down on a button activating a releasing mechanisim that sent the head of the staff flying toward one of the still standing aliens.

It pierced it's chest and imbedded itself inside before releasing a charge of electricity that annoyed the creature at the least; not the desired effect Anarky had hoped for as he pressed the same button again making the still imbedded grappleling hook retract. Pulling the alien off it's feet, Anarky spun on his heels and with his momentum, sent the still flying alien crashing hard into a wall before the grappleling hook freed itself from it's chest cavity. Two of the alien's buddies seeing new prey, broke off from trying to get into the forcefield and charged toward Anarky at full throttle.

"Thats right... Alittle closer..." Anarky coexed as the circled 'A' on his chest began to emit a reddish glow. Then after a moment when they were close enough, Anarky released a powerful electromagnetic beam straight into the ground at the aliens' feet making a large explosion which sent them both flying back. Anarky's suit detected movement behind him where he had thrown the first alien, spinning around to late as the creature picked him up and had intentions of eating his face off when Anarky swung his legs and unnattached his cape, resulting in it falling on the alien's head and momentarily confusing it as it growled trying to remove the cape from it's face: giving Anarky the time he needed to throw a few more exploding anarky disks into it's bare back, rolling out of the way moments before they exploded and sent chunks of the creature's body flying everywhere.
