The following is an article on the front page of the Daily News.
Invasion!
The planet held its collective breath, as aliens from another world appeared almost out of nowhere and began their collective quest to overtake the Earth. This is not ‘Groundhog Day’; the earth has yet again undergone an invasion from an alien species. Before it was the exiled Kheran’s trying to remake earth into their new home; this time it seems that death and destruction is the only goal. Yes, it does sound like something out of a popular science fiction novel, but unfortunately this isn’t fiction.
From Washington D.C. to London to Tehran and Seoul, no city--regardless of its political affiliation or motivations--has been spared the onslaught of these creatures. The Daily Planet editorial board has reserved the right to refer to them as "creatures", as they have indicated no attempt to communicate their desires. Instead, savage brutality appears to be their only form of communication.
Early reports have identified the creatures as having extreme strength, some say as strong as Wonder Woman or even Majestic, as well as being able to take machine gun fire without even flinching. Having previously been very outspoken regarding the possibility of an alien invasion, Lex Luthor, former President of the United States and LexCorp CEO and Chairman had this quote for the Planet:
"This is exactly what I warned the world about. This is what happens when we allow aliens to become comfortable on our home soil. More of them come. It's hard for me to resist saying 'I told you so'."
This, of course, coming from a man whom we all later found out to be involved in his own shady dealings.
The creatures are wantonly destroying everything in their paths. They are not like the Kheran’s, a previous race of aliens who also attempted to invade our terra firma and enslave mankind. The creatures instead appear satisfied with nothing less than mass murder. Officials around the globe are warning their citizens to flee the populated areas of the world that have currently born the brunt of the attack. Whether that will remain the case is also still unknown. Even as recently as five minutes ago, reporters in our newsroom continue to find field stories on Youtube and other internet video sites, documenting the survival attempts of numerous individuals as they flee the attack. Mankind as a whole have not been the only ones to face the brunt of the attack. Superheroes, metahumans, whatever you want to call them; they too have been ravaged and overwhelmed by the endless number of the creatures that continue to flood our city streets. The Justice League, with their headquarters in Metropolis, has been under constant assault almost from the moment the creatures first started arriving. When reached for comment, JL spokesman Captain Comet had this to say:
"This attack is unlike anything we have seen before. We urge the citizens of the earth to do their best to hide from these creatures. The Justice League, along with all other heroes of earth, are doing as much as they can to repel the attack.”
Many believe the alien creatures have some sort of extrasensory perception in terms of metahuman abilities and are attempting to destroy those people first.
One thing is for sure, the world needs heroes.
The Planet has also received a statement from the Joint Chiefs of Staff, though their current location remains undisclosed as of press time.
"We understand that the world is going through a terrible period in its history. What we would also like the world to understand is that we are doing everything in our power to coordinate and implement an effective response to counter this threat. We appreciate your patience in this time of crisis."
